Who's responsiblity is it to have a tree trimmed? Our neighbor has an enormous tree which he will not cut. It is completely growing crazy on our side of the fence. It makes an enormous mess each week as it is a pepper corn tree, not to mention that it is leaning on our fence and electrical wires. Are there any laws stating he must trim it for us? We dont want to have to pay for a tree trimming service for a tree that isn't ours. Help!!! Thanks!

My response:

In California, anything growing over the property line is yours. That means you get to keep the dropped pepper corns, and everything else that is produced on your side of the line. But, you also have the financial responsibility for paying to have the tree trimmed if you don't want the pepper corns. Sorry.
