I recently moved from NY to NJ. I went to
DMV for the test to get my NJ license. They informed me that my current license
was suspended in Alabama & Georgia. In
1985 I was in the Army stationed in GA. I
received a speeding ticket while driving
through AL. I paid that ticket within the week.(Being in the military, I had no choice
but to pay it). AL. claims that it is still unpaid
after 14 years. I have no paperwork from
then. They claim to have their copy of the
summons and thats it. They want me to pay the ticket again=$400 plus a $60
re-instatement fee(for GA. also). I don't
think I should be ripped off after 14 years
due to poor record keeping. Any help?
Thank you!
