I am trying to help a family obtain information regarding a confusing situation. There are two sisters one age 7 the other age 15 months. 7 year old is adopted by a maternal family member(Jane Do 1). The 15 month year old is under foster care with a paternal family member (Jane Do 2) who is in the process of adopting the 15 month year old. Jane Do 2 at first was not allowing visitation with the 7 year old sibling. Now she has allowed Jane Do 1 to see the 15 month year old 9 times and her sister has seen her twice. Jane Do 2 is not comfortable with Jane Do 1 taking the 15 month year old for a day or a weekend, Jane Do 1 is the 15 month year old great aunt along with being the adoptive mother of the 7 year old sister. With the adoption of the 15 months year old coming soon Jane Do 1 is very worried that the 7 year old and herself will never get to see the 15 month old sister. What rights are there for siblings after an adoption? Is there any case law that can be of assistance to this family? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.
