out-of-state point transferral?

I recently received a speeding ticket in Virginia, though I am registered in Colorado. I've heard rumors that points do not always transfer to your driving record for an out of state violation. Is this true in my case?

That is up to each individual insurance company. It is not a federal or universal issue.
