my work car was parked in nov. Inspection, reg, ins.expired end of nov.it needed repairs for inspection.I did some cost free repairs to see how it ran and was it worth putting more money into.I drove it a mile down the road and back a couple times.Well there they were 360.00 fine and loss of lic. for 3 mo. I've seen in the paper suspensions for D.U.I. are only 30 days.Is this nuts or what, and what can I do? I am in Pa.

My response:

Please look at the top, left, corner of this page. It says, "State Laws vary greatly. Include your state in all postings."
A lot of you have "State specific" questions, yet you good folks are not reading, and FAIL to tell us your State. We cannot help you with anything but "general" concepts of law if we don't know your State, and "general concepts" may HURT YOU.

NOTICE:
Therefore, this writer will, from now on, IGNORE all questions and entries unless they include your State.

My response:

Sorry Edward. It makes no difference whether you drove the car 1 time, or 100 times before getting stung. The facts remain as they are. Pennsylvania, like California and New York, have very strict vehicle insurance laws, and like these States, in PA the fines and suspension are mandatory. Unless you can come up with a reason why the "Stop" was wrongful in the first place, you're stuck. You might also ask the judge for a "limited" license; that which allows you to go to and from work, only. They will set up the route you'll follow, and if you're caught anywhere from that route . . . well, it'll be the slammer for you.
