I recently recieved a ticket in the mail informing me that I went through a red light. I fully intend to fight this ticket due to the fact I was turning left and had to wait for trafic. Do you have any advice for me and do you know where I can find documented cases on this matter to support my case?

thanks
Rochelle

My response:

The authorities have a photo of your car, in the intersection. The photo will show you behind the wheel and your front license plate. The photo also shows the date, time and speed of your car. If the photo shows you were moving at the time of the photo, the camera snaps a picture. However, if you were in the intersection before the light turned red, and the photo shows you in the intersection, merely waiting for oncoming traffic to clear, then I'd say you have a good chance of disputing the ticket. At the arraignment, have the clerk, or even the judge, show you the picture BEFORE you plead to the matter.
