I appeared in court and the judge told me this is considered a class a misdemeanor (which can result in a $2,500 fine, up to a year in prison, and probation of my license)....I have hired an attorney to represent me......

I guess what I'm wondering is, since I have a good job, I only have one other speeding ticket in my life, and no other problems with the law, is there a possibility of jail time??......it just doesn't seem right....If I have to pay $2,500, I'll pay it to avoid spending time in jail.......the violation took place in illinois..........
thanking you in advance for your response

well, it depends on the prosecutor, and what the judge is in the habit of doing. if the judge tends to be harsh with reckless drivers, then he might be willing to consider jail time. What does your attorney think?
