The birth sister and birth mother of a child given up for adoption in New Orleans, 1966, are trying to get a copy of the reliqueshment forms that the birth mother signed at the time she gave up her infant son in 1966. They were recently told that the papers are filed under the adoptive parents names and they can not get them.
Does anyone know if the birth mother should be able to get copies of these papers legally? (Even if all pertinent adoptive parents names are blacked out!)What papers and forms would the birth mother be entitled to?
Thanks in advance!
