Hello. I live in Florida, but have DC roots. I am looking to take what the law will allow me. That is, I am looking for the most cost-effective way for me to legally have DC plates on my car (in FL) - without having residence in the District.

Can this be done cost-effectively AND legally? On one end of the spectrum, I recognize that I could set up residence / domicile there, but that expense (taxes included) is beyond my threshold. Can I do a sale-leaseback with a current DC resident? What other creative, cost-effective, legal ways could a Florida resident obtain Washington, DC license plates? Thank you.
