What is the name of your state?NY
is it by law saying that the police officer has to make me sign the ticket? if so when does the ticket have to be signed?

Senior Member
In some states not signing the ticket is an automatic free ride to the pokey where you will have to post bond. In others you can either sign or not sign. Either way it has no effect on the ticket.
