What is the name of your state?YNC

I was involved in a car accident in Kenya; I spent 2 weeks in ICU and nearly 6 months off work. This was 8 years ago! Though my travel insurance I began the procedure to sue the guilty parties (There’s no doubt about whose fault is was, not mine!) the legal team at my travel insurance company got a lawyer(s) in Kenya to get the case to court. Its been 8 years on this case with silly things like me having to prove who I am, then 6 months later evidence to show that I was actually in Kenya!. OK, I know that a Kenyan court is not the best place to sue, but, my point is that it has dragged out over a long time; can I sue my travel insurance company for not doing enough to speed things up? What can I do? What’s a reasonable amount of time? If I see another lawyer to sort this out could I be waiting another 8 years?

My response:

You have to be joking. Speed things up? And, what would you like your Kenyan attorneys or your travel insurance company to do to "speed things up"? I'm sorry that things in Africa aren't as "speedy" as they are in "YNC" (Whatever that means).

Thankyou Goddess Vicky. IAAL, I moved to work in NYC, “New York City”, I am from LA (The City of Los Angeles).

So what is reasonable to be expected from my Lawyer here in New York City for the length of time for a case to be herd overseas?

My response:

When I complete my African law courses, I'll let you know.

For all I know, they have some Zulu Warrior, or a Pygmy, trying your case, and they're waiting for the next Coca-Cola bottle to fall from the sky. Who knows what the hell is going on!

Don't you just hate New York?

IAAL, I do not just love one place I love the whole country. Is this best forum to be asking these questions, or has a native from LA (The City of Los Angeles) I should be using a forum based in another country?

Harddoneby, this website only covers U.S. law and there really isn't anybody on here who could answer your question. Sorry.

Fair comment and I agree, but surely if a lawyer here in the US is being hired here in to US to sort out something elsewhere, then who would be responsible for passing on instructions?
