My sister wants me to buy her out of her interest in a home we both have title to (I'm living in the home, she isn't and the home is paid off). I got an appraisal for $400,000, and I am willing to buy her out based on this. However, she wants to get another appraisal, hoping it will be appraised at a higher value. If she wants me to buy her out, and she doesn't want to compromise on the value, do I have to stand by her appraisal and buy her out based on the value of the appraisal she gets?
