What is the name of your state?Calif. I want to get my notary licese in Calif, but I know they do a background check. I have a misdemeanor shoplifting conviction 04/1997. I paid a fine, did community service and was on probation (not to get in trouble, not to a person) for 3 years. I fulfilled all my requirements. Is that shoplifting misdemeanor going to disqualify me from getting a license? I think it was 487A 17B I have never ever had any other trouble. I need to do this, but hate to spend the money of it is a lost cause,

Thanks
