What is the name of your state?

I am going to be a mom. I would like to stay home with my baby possibly a year. Probably my current employer not going to be able to keep my job, and also they do not want to lay me off ,or fire. I thought that I am going to be able to go to state disability and after that if they fire I can go and apply for unemployment. But it is sounds to simple. I need help to understand these things better and also if you have any other solution please let me know. Thanks. I am waiting for your answer.

Your employer is not under any legal obligation to hold your job for as long as a year, you are correct about that.

However, I find it unlikely that you will qualify for unemployment. Not returning to work is YOUR choice. Your employer is not firing you; you are refusing to return to work. That is almost certainly going to disqualify you for benefits.
