I work for a customs brokerage company and my client has notified us of a job opening. I would like to apply for the position, but I was wondering if there are possible legal repercussions if I apply for a position with our client. I didn't sign a non-compete contract or anything of the sort. What may be potential consequences, if any?

If you didn't sign a non-compete agreement there are no legal consequences; you can apply to work wherever you like. Keep in mind that the client has no legal obligation to hire you if THEY feel it would be a conflict of interest.
