What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania

My mother in law passed away and left the house to my husband and brother.
Their is a lawyer handling her estate. We are concerned, the lawyer said to not make the mortgage payment, they will handle everything. Can a lien be put on the house if we don't make a mortgage payment? Or should we not worry about that, since we have an estate lawyer?

Seems to me you are missing a step here. Just because the house was inherited does not mean the Mortgage was and I would think if the house is to be kept and not sold, that a new Mortgage will have to be taken out and the original Mortgage will have to be paid off at some point in this process. I would surmiss that the Lawyer is aware of that too. They only inherit the equity in the house the rest is an estate obligation and will have to be handled.
