What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Indiana

I co-signed a loan for my teenage daughter when she was going to college. She has since graduated and is an adult on her own.
She refinianced her loan with another company.
My name was left on the loan as a co-signer without my knowledge
Can a loan company legally keep a co-signer from a former contract on a new refinaced loan without contacting the original co-signer?
my daughter has fallen behind on her payments and it is affecting my credit.
any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated :(

The key word you used was refinanced. This does make you liable. If she had obtained a new loan in her name only then paid off the original creditor, you would be off the hook. Isn't being a co-signer just wonderful?
