What is the name of your state? TX

I received my final paycheck within 5 days, however there was a deduction for vacation time taken that they said had not accrued yet. The vacation at the time was approved and paid a month earlier. After my termination, do they have a right to deduct my vacation time from my check? I called the DOL and they told me that if they approved it and paid it, then they can't do that. I called the HR department before filing a wage claim as instructed, and was told to "sue us"

Is this right?

In some states they can; evidently in TX they can't. Call the DOL back and make a complaint.
