What is the name of your state?NY

I recently rec'd a letter stating that a judgement had been granted against me for an old student loan to a collection agency. I have (2) issues. The first is that I never was given any notice of pending judgement. Secondly, this was a guaranteed student loan that had been defaulted many years ago and the New York State Higher Education Services Corp had taken the loan back. They eventually got an administrative garnishment and attached my wages for about a year. We finally came to a settlement amount for the outstanding balance and I paid. I have a letter from the NYSHEC stating that the loan has been paid in full. This collection agency, ACS is one of many that has been trying to collect on this debt over the coursse of 15 years. Bottom line is, what are my options. I have copies of the letter rec'd from NYSHEC stating that the loan is paid, and if I had known of the impending lawsuit I could have appeared in court with my proof. Help and thanks

I think the collection agency is lying.

But, if you want verification, see below:

Disputes: You can write a letter of dispute to the three credit reporting agencies.

Sometimes errors are easy to remove and sometimes they stick like glue. It is inexpensive to try and not difficult.
