What is the name of your state? CA

As collateral for a 5,400 loan, I receive the title to this car (unsigned) which I would be allowed to sell if the loan was not paid back by Sept 5, 2005 (have a notarized statement). No payment has been made and both her and the vehicle have disappeared.

Not sure what to do - any ideas?

An unsigned title is not worth anything -- it's not even good collateral, since the true owner can get a fresh certificate of title issued anytime. If you don't know where the defendant is, you won't be able to serve process on her for a civil claim.

Sorry, but your chance of recovering your money looks pretty slim.
