What is the name of your state? California

I hired a General Contractor to build an appartment on my property. In the contract we set a date for completion. That date is rapidly approching and the unit is no where near completion. Once the day has arrived, what are my options? Do i wait for him to complete the project and sue for lose of rent or do i seek a new G.C. to complete the job? Are thier options i am unaware of? Thank you for your time.

Your not going to like this... but the variables and complexity of this potential lawsuit are far too extensive for an online 'discussion'. You really need to take your contract (and ANY delay, changes, etc.) to a local attorney who can review and advise.
