Is there any law that prohibits the use of the name school in a private business?

I believe you could use the term "school" in the name of a business as long as it was not misleading (for example, if it were not a school)in most states. However, a definite answer would have to be in terms of the law of the state the business is in.

Probably not permitted in New York State. Must check the state's statutes for definitive answer.
