What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

We had an electrical panel upgraded. The electrician said it was all done by code. When the inspector came, he said it had to be 5 more inches away from our oil tank. Contractor says the inspector can make up this rule as he see's it and there is no clear code on such things. Anyone out there that knows the true answer? Contractor says he shouldn't be responsible to have it moved ($$$). Thank you all :)

Ask both of them for quotes to the code that backs them up.

That should settle it.

(P.S. Bet on the inspector.)

Next step

Is that why the contractor has insurance, in case I need to go to court to dispute his knowledge of the code law?
