Hi everyone,
I was involved in a transaction with a business in Wisconsin. The business misrepresented the item that it sold me. They are not offering a refund. I live in Michigan. Can I file a small claims suit in Michigan or do I have to file in Wisconsin. Thank you!

You can file in your state. They (the defendant) can then file a motion to dismiss claiming that your state does not have jurisdiction. You would have to argue that it does. Can you do that successfully?? If you can, go for it.

However, if you get a judgment in your state, that judgment will NOT be valid in their state.... presumably where there assets are.
