What is statue of limitation in the state of Indiana?

I have a copy of my divorce decree that was signed by
a judge/my attorney, whereas my now ex-husband agreed
to the following written out terms:
Each party shall be responsible for payments on the
automobile in his or her possession on the date of
filing of this action. Petitioner shall be responsible
for the 1993 Dodge Shadow. Respondent (my ex-husband)
shall be responsible for the unpaid principal balance
due on the 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, which was
repossessed by Tranex Credit Corp. on Feb. 16, 1998.

This account has been sold twice, I had been receiving
threatening calls about them putting a lien on my
house/or new truck, they're always pulling my credit
file, and now I just received a letter from an
attorney who's suppose to be representing this last
company, wanting me to pay over $11,000.00 for a car I
never had. I co-signed for this car in Sept. 1997, the
car was reported stolen by him two months later,
payments were not being kept and it was found wrecked
and totalled the vehicle. They supposely sold it at a
oxyen, and said we owed about $7,500.00 a few years
ago. I believe they're trying to take me to court.
What are my rights? They've contacted my ex, and he
moved to Iowa and told them that he will file
bankruptcy and won't give them a dime.

at is the name of your state? Indianaundefined

You have the right to pay the loan you signed for. Then you can try to sue your ex based on your divorce decree.
Okay, so basically you're telling me that they can sue me for whatever they want and I don't stand a chance in court? How can I sue him when I know for a fact he wouldn't show up in court, and I would be wasting my time since he doesn't live in this state. Well, I've been reading up on the new bankruptcy law for chapter 7, and I do qualify, (both income/debt.) so the way I see it, if they don't settle for a little of nothing, that's how I will proceed, and they won't get a dime from me as well. I have been very responsible in keeping my bills A-1, but I refused to pay for something that I never had possession of. This is a very old debt, I originally had filed a chapter 13, but didn't finish it, I was laid off work and there's no way that I can pay this. I paid them over $800.00 in 2003 thru chapter 13.
