What is the name of your state?Wife and i live in texas, last year we moved to chicago illinois, we signed a 1 yr lease, we stayed 1 month and left on the 1st of 2nd month . We paid 1 month rent and landlord kept our security deposit (equal to 1 month rent). recently had a court summons through for this month in chicago. Landlords attorney asking for 1month rent and costs equaling 2 months rent. what can happen?

Do you mean if you ignore it or refuse to pay? As you imagine, they can sue you, take a judgment (there aren't any obvious defenses asserted or claimed in your post), domesticate the judgment in Texas and enforce it, with all the mess that implies. Probably something along the lines of what you suspected.

On the other hand, it looks as if you're being offered an incredible deal, and you could take that.

Between those two options, there's probably only "have a collection agency make your life miserable and have the attorney ruin your credit".
