Is it legal to fire someone for behavior that is common and therefor considered acceptable?

it is legal and proper to fire somebody for no reason or any reason whatsoever so long as you are not firing them because of discrimination against a legally protected class or, in limited cases, if it is retaliation for whistleblowing.
