What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania

I have worked for large companies all my life. Now, being unemployed, I will be doing some contract work initially with a company in New Jersey. Most of the work can be done from home with occassional travel to customers or New Jersey headquarters. Travel costs will be covered by the company that I am contracting with. I am a home owner (big mortgage), married with two children at home and two cars - sort of the normal.

Should I incorporate?

Thanks,
RMantz

That's a personal decision, NOT a legal one.

If all you are doing is working on a 1099 as a consultant then most companies won't deal with you until you have an EIN which you can do AND protect your assets by forming a LLC.

Talk to your accountant about the advantages then with a local attorney about the articles of incorporation forms required by your state for registration.
