Hello:

My son bought a 2000 Mercury Cougar from a private owner for approximately, $6,000.
After a short time (week or so) it wouldn't start. A mechanic stated to us that, this particular year of the Mercury Cougar is basically a lemon. It is know for many factory born faults.
One of them is the starting problem we are now encountering.
I think the people my son purchased the car from knew this was a raw deal.
What recourse do I have, if any?
Regards,

Unless your son is under 18 (and you didn't co-sign), he has bought himself a car. A good car? That's debatable. But he owns it lock, stock, and sitting-in-front-of-the-house-looking-ugly barrel.

Actually, he's 19, dumber than a bag of dirt, YOUR son and the proud owner of a piece of crap.

Just have him get together with his friends for a weekend mod party. I'm sure it will run better with a 3" fart-can exhaust, some neon lights underneath, and a big piece of sheetmetal bolted to the rear deck. ;)
