What is the name of your state? Connecticut
Is it neccesary to have an attorney to set up an LLC? And should the LLC be set up prior to signing a lease for the new business?

Not to be glib, but if you don't know the answer (and the reasons for the answer) to the second question, you really DO need an attorney. An LLC (in most states) is relatively simple to set up -- but can be complex in practice, and it is very easy to screw something up and end up thinking that you have minimized personal liability and risk when you really haven't. You either need to sit down and really educate yourself on LLC, or better yet, hire a lawyer to help you through the process.
