how long can they get for possession

my friend who is addicted to cocaine and hash, was just charged with possession of 8 kilos of cannabis in her house, she has been told she is going to get 5 to 7 years imprisonment even though this is her first offence in england, uk. is there no way she can get a lighter sentence?
