Can parents of an adult college student (who remains financially dependent) invade his/her privacy away at school by hiring a spy to follow him/her around and browse his/her online accounts?

School email accounts, AOL instant messager, myspace and other free social online sites the victim uses have been invaded by his parents and have been modified (passwords and basic info) without his consent or knowledge. The parents are paying a fellow classmate to follow the said victim around and search through his room and his things and report back to them to ensure that the said victim is not in contact with a certain person.

we are aware that this is morally incorrect as it is against the victim's will, but is there any right that he has to cease the invasion of his privacy?

Financial dependence is irrelevant: no parent of any adult child may spy on them for any reason whatsoever. Parents may be prosecuted or sued.
