State of IL. My wife has been getting monthly LTD payments for a few years now, payable until age 65. Each year she gets a W2 that says these payments for the year are non-taxable. Would a lump sum settlement the Ins. Co. has offered be taxable income and if so why since the monthly checks are not??? TIA
