I crushed my finger while working on deck offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. I crushed my left pinky finger, ( I am right handed ) lacerating it 3/4 of the way around. I was flown in and taken to a hospital were they sewed it up. Two days later I was seen by a specialist and was told I need surgery. After it was done the doctor said that he had repaired the flexor tendon and a few nerves, and pinned the bone in place. I will be out of work for 6 to 8 weeks. My question is, how much would be a fair amount to ask for if my finger is OK, and how much if I have lost movement? I qualify under the "Jones Act", and I live in the state of Louisiana.

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

http://www.law.cornell.edu/topics/workers_compensation.html

Read the link above. You need to differentiate and tell this board what you qualify under and what state. Then repost and see if someone can help you locate the proper information.

BUt of course, it is always a good idea to see a workers comp attorney anyway. Try attorneypages.com or call your state bar assocation and ask for lawyer referral.
