What is the name of your state? Wisconsin

If you find that Small Claims is not the appropriate jurisdiction for something like the amount of money suing for or the types of damages sought (time from work/travel expenses), would the motion to "Dismiss without prejudice" allow the case to be handled in an appropriate jurisdiction?

I have a feeling that there's a lot left unspoken in this question but, if it's your Small Claims case, there should be no need for a motion - just dismiss it and start elsewhere.

If an adverse party has alrady been served, it would be simply common courtesy to give them at least informal notice of your action.

That said, you're not likely to find any forum or any case where you're going to be able to claim time off from work or your travel expenses as part of your damages.
