I recently found out about an 11 year old ticket that is on my
record that I had no idea about. After some telephone tag with the
court, they have finally given me some info. They have also told me
there is now a warrant out for me, since I was supposed to be there
Monday. Of course, when I called them beforehand, they had no
idea what I was talking about.

Anyway, they want me now to come in and remove the default from
Monday, and speak to the judge then and there. The charges are
giving a false name, Operating after suspension and running a red
light.

I would appreciate any input on how to proceed with this. It seems
to me that after 11 years, it is unlikely the cop would be available to
testify against me; but I would like to hear the ideas of those who have
more experience in this sort of thing than me.

This is in a Massachusetts court.

Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

There may be some time limitation on prosecution for an 11 year old ticket. I tried locating a section in the Mass. code, but was unable to locate it. It may be a municipal code. Have you considered at least consulting with a criminal defense attorney in your state? Try http://www.attorneypages.com or call your state bar association.
