Question.

Over the last few weeks several students at one of the campuses I attend have started a rumor that I am gay, and I have, acording to policy basically skirted the issue (will not discuss with students). It is quite obvious that I am not a "normal" male, but I do present male. I have not had any problems in the classroom in these regards, but lately several students have called me "the gay sub" on campus.

About a week ago a student who obviously is uncomfortable with me, decided to throw a chair at me and out the window, he was suspended for 5 days. Upon his return (suspicisially) several students from his class filed reports stating that I had "talked to and shown porno" to the class). First I was apauled at this report, knowing I would have NEVER even had porno but showed it to kids!? I do not even let them say bad words or talk on the phone in class, etc.

I am called into superintendents office and told I was not on "administrative leave" and would more than likely be fired. The super did not know of the "homosexual" comments, etc that were brought up. I know that these alligations were brought up against me because someone (or someones parents) are "homophobic".

1. Is this legal? (remember work at will)
2. Is it discrimation? (I.e. I would never have been fired if people did not assume gay)
3. Is their any recourse?

Finally this report is district only and will not affect my chances at getting hired (even at that district) for another posistion. The only main issue is that I am now going to be out of work for 4 - 5 months because no other district in my area hires until Aug/Sept.

Thank You again
Mandy
