Texas residents, we took a vacation last month, passing through Kansas. Wife got a ticket for more than 20 mph over the limit, on an insterstate hwy. Fine is $215. She is OK with just paying for that, but we don't want it showing up on her Texas record.

Does Kansas have reciprocity with Texas - will they send that information to Austin?

Kansas has "Diversion", which appears comparable to our Deferred Adjudication. That is not available when you are cited in excess of 20 over.

Trying to decide whether to pay it or pay a Kansas attorney to fight it.

Paying the fine will result in 2 points on her record in texas. If you want to avoid this find a kansas attorney who is close to the court. He will most likely be able to have it reduced.

Try making a deal with the DA to go with a charge of 15 over or something instead of 20 over and allow you to take the diversion. Obviously he doesn't have to do any such thing, but as long as she doesn't have a slew of past tickets, he may be more than willing help you out like that.
