What is the name of your state? CA

My ex-wife and I divorced (dissolution of marriage) last year and although she makes 3 times what I do, I signed a notarized letter stating I would pay her $300/month until I reached a total of around $15,000. I've payed over $5000 already, but as the fog has cleared I've realized how ridiculous this is.

My question: What is the legality of this notarized IOU/Promissory note? If I was to stop paying her, what are the ramifications I could face?

I appreciate everyone's help!

Ever hear of a contract?

Post here the exact wording of the 'agreement'.

It was simply worded...

I xxxxxx, agree to pay xxxxxxx $300.00/month on the 5th of every month to the total of $15,000.

That was it.

I guess you owe her $10,000 then don't you?
