This is in reference to the state of Iowa. My boyfriend's mother was working at a hospital in the kitchen. While carrying a small box of cake mix, her knee popped. She was seen in the emergency room of the same hospital. She was told by the ER doctor that this was not work related even though it happened while she was working. She saw a specialist a couple of day later that told her that he would put his credibility on the line to say that it was work-related. She has been unable to work since the accident and was put on short term disability through the hospital. She was informed yesterday that she had been terminated. With that termination she will be losing her short term disability and her insurance coverage. She is scheduled have surgery tomorrow. We are hoping that the insurance coverage lasts until the end of the month. Is she entitled to anything? Is it possible to win a lawsuit from the treatment that she has received? Thank you.
