What is the name of your state? PA
My wife got speeding ticket in Ohio. Thought her sister payed it. A couple months latter she got pulled over in ILL (where we use to live). SHe went to first court date, but didn't go back for second. We now live in PA. We know we have to go back to ILL to get it taken care of. A bench warrent is probably out for her arrest. I just wonder if go to get it taken care of well they arrest her when show up to take care of the ticket?

You are right to take care of the tickets. Unpaid tickets cause major problems. The states generally share this information and your wife will not get her Pennsylvania license until they're paid. You didn't say what the actual violations were for, so assuming they were civil/traffic infractions, e.g. speeding (not criminal, e.g. RD or DUI), you should be able to clear these up by getting your check book out and mailing the fines to the appropriate courts in OH and IL.

The procedure is to phone each court of the jurisdiction where she received the ticket and ask if there is a warrant for her arrest, or just outstanding fines. If these were speeding violations that did not require a court appearance it's unlikely a warrant has been issued for her FTA (failure to appear). If FTAs were issued there will likely be additional fines to pay.

When talking with them on the phone take notes. If you don't understand what they are telling you ask for clarification. Ask them for the address to send the money. Then send the money via 'certified mail - return receipt requested'. This will provide assurance the money was received and the return receipt will be sent back to you with the signature of whoever signed to receive the payment of these fines at the courthouse. The Post Office will instruct you on how to complete the certified mail forms. The postage will be around $4.50 for each envelope.

Once the fines are paid and the courts had time to process the payment (5-10 days), send a letter to PennDOT (or call them) stating the outstanding fines have been paid and the suspension of her license for non payment of fines should be lifted and her driving privileges should be restored. At that point they'll check their computer system and if the fines have been paid she'll get her license back.

She doesn't need to worry about the speeding violations and any points issued by IL or OH transferring to her PA record. PA only wants to make sure she paid the fines.

Generally, if she is entering the courthouse with the intention to take care of her responsibility they are not interested in arresting her. They want the matter resolved and fines paid.

If any of these citations were for Reckless Driving or DUI (criminal misdemeanor) her best bet might be to seek the counsel of an attorney from the county seat in each state to help her through the process. Otherwise she should be able to do this herself.
