possession of marijuana and firearms charge

help! my brother was arrested and the chrges were dropped except a possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce) and 3 loaded firearms. Yesterday he was told his guns were being held for safekeeping now they're saying they're being held as evidence. he said it might possuibly be that they decided to now charge him with having the guns (3 loaded) and marijuana together which is 1 yr for each bullit. does anyone know if this is true or has this happened to anyone before?

Wait... You say all charges were dropped except for the marijuana charge and the firearm charge, and now you're afraid they're tacking on the firearm charge? I'm rather confused here...
