What is the name of your state? VA

How many do you need for a class action lawsuit in Virginia for discrimination and harassment?

It depends upon the facts of the case. However, if you want to file a lawsuit under the federal EEO statutes, you need to first file with EEOC. Most complaints are filed by individuals and if the processing shows a class matter, EEOC can enlarge the scope of the investigation to include others who may be affected by the alleged discrimination. There are a number of requirements other than number of individuals affected for a class.

so lets say two of us have discrimination (possiblly racially motivated), another has wrongful termination (female), another has harassment along with me (both of us female)and add sexual harassment to it also as well as gay bashing. It has over all just been a poor invironment to work in for all involved recently. Would we all need to file separately with the EEOC at the state level with our attorneys first before it can possibly become a class action against the county dept where we all work?

Your group as described whose allegations of discrimination have different issues and bases would never comprise a class for employment discrimination purposes. Plus, the group is much too small. Each individual needs to pursue his/her claims separately.

Gay bashing isn't prohibited by any federal statute.

I don't know what "EEOC at the state level is." You can either file with EEOC, a federal agency, or with the state's human rights agency, if Virginia has one.
