A friend was being abused verbally and finally left the house and went to a shelter. Her husband is claiming she deserted the family, even though she calls the two boys (14 and 18) daily and sees them whenever she can. The school counselor also claims she gave up rights when she left. her husband also told her she would be declared unfit if she sought government assistance. She has finally asked me for help, and tomorrow we go see social services, but I'd like other perspectives. He smokes constantly around the asthmatic son, doesn't always have food in the house, brings home strange women, did nothing for holidays, dropped her from health insurance, etc. Any advice?
