What is the name of your state? Illinois
I live in Illinois and have had to put my 90-year-old mother into a nursing home. I have her medical and financial power of attorney and signed her into the nursing home using the POA. I was told at the time she entered the home that she had insurance that would cover her stay 100% for two years. It has been 5 months now and I received a bill from the nursing home stating that the charges to the insurance company have been denied and I should pay the outstanding bill immediately. My question is, since I signed her into the home as her POA am I responsible for the charges incurred or was I just signing her name as her POA and is her estate responsible for the debt. What is the name of your state?
