I am a waiter in New Jersey and feel there is unfair treatment going on at my place of employment. The manager of the restaurant is giving more customers to his brother, another waiter, than to rest of us. It appears this problem has been going on for a while and although others have complained to the owner, nothing seems to have changed. Is there anything illegal about this practice by the manager, i.e. conflict of interest?

Magic words -- "owner" and "owner's brother." Unless you belong to a union or have an employment contract which specifically states that you will share in the customers, you are out of luck. Favoritism and nepotism are alive and well, and not illegal, just bad business practice.
