Hello. I am having a house built and am paying cash according to a draw schedule. When the builder requests partial payment according to that draw schedule, what documents should I request from the builder to protect myself from the Florida Construction Lien Law? I understand that if I pay the builder, but he does not in turn pay the subcontractors, I am liable to pay twice. We have gone through 2 draws, and no liens have been filed by subcontractors. Thanks.

I am not a lawyer but what I do is ask for lien releases from subs and suppliers. That insures that the subs and suppliers are being paid.
