Contractor sending bill collectors for work not performed

Colorado! I have a contractor who did work on my property that did not complete the work that he is billing me for and now he has taken the remaining balance to a debt collector. So now if I don't pay even though he do not perform the remaining work it gets put on my credit!!!!!! Help!

In addition you may find a lien placed agaisnt your property and will not be able to sell the home until the debt is paid/negotiated.
