posession w/ intent to sell

My friend was driving w/ 2 of his friends and got stopped by police in Orange County, California. The cops asked them if they had any drugs and they said no. Then they searched all 3 of them and found weed on one of the other guys. That gave them cause to search the car and they found 1 ounce of weed, less than a sheet of LSD, and a meth pipe and my friend admitted to owning them and having the weed and acid w/ intent to sell (he gave them the name of the contact who supplies him). Because he was the only one of the group who was 18 (everyone else was underage), he was arrested and charged w/ 3 felonies and 2 misdemeanors (don't recall what they are exactly). He already admitted to having them w/ intent to sell, so is there anything to be done about that? He plans to plead guilty at ...arraignment? (the first show in front of the judge). This is his first offense and he's never had any problems w/ the law whatsoever before. What should he do? He can hardly afford a lawyer and he does not have one so far. What options does he have and what are the possible penalties he's facing? Is there a way of dodging jail-time?

no way will you get off without serving jail time with mutliply felonies, best thing to do is get the serving sentence reduced to the most minimum.
