My brothers ex lied on there joint tax return and now the IRS wants the money owed. Can my brother do anything to make his ex pay her share? She supposedly doesn't work.

Couples are jointly and severally liable for the taxes on a jointly filed return. The brother has no recourse I know (except for the divorce decree) to "force" the ex to pay.

If the brother is an "innocent spouse" he can get out of paying some and the government will go after the ex. However, I bet money he is not.
